Rental Club Frequently Asked Questions
All of our equipment is replaced on a rolling programme so nothing is ever more than a year old. This means that you get to use all the latest designs form our manufactures. Currently we have the following equipment available:

As the club expands we will also look to expand the range and type of equipment available. Possible additions may include:

- Flat water racing kayaks
- Sailing dinghy’s
- Surf-Boards
- Road Bikes
- Mountain Bikes
You can hire the equipment as much as you like, for as long as you like subject to the following:
- We are open – See opening times
- You are of a suitable ability for the equipment and conditions
- The conditions are suitable for the equipment and your ability
- There is no one else wanting the equipment. If there is we operate a fair use policy, which limits your hire to 2 hours.
- For all Llyn Padarn paddle sports – 2 Hour intro session or higher qualification
- Off-site sea kayaking – minimum BCU 3 star sea kayaking, 4 star for certain locations e.g Stacks, Skerries, Bardsey etc.
- Off-site river kayaking/Canoeing – Up to grade 2 water, minimum BCU 3 Star, Grade 2+ BCU 4 Star
- Off-site Sit-on-Tops – BCU 2 Star
- Off-site SUP’s and Boogie Boards – None
Yes – Up to eight times in the year, but the same guest may only come three times. After this they are more than welcome to hire through our standard rental system.

- If there is a specific boat that you want, please call in advance so that we can let you know if its available
- Book in at reception and let us know what kit you want
- We will advise if it’s suitable – and off you go.
- Make sure you return before closing time!
- You need the appropriate qualifications before taking equipment off-site.
- Please call in advance to discuss your plans and the item of equipment you want.
- Complete an off-site forms available form the office and online
- If you are going on the sea, you will need to leave a simple plan of your journey with us, including your tide calculations if appropriate, with your expected return times
- If you are going on a river we will need you access and egress points and an expected time of return.
- Ensure that you have all the appropriate personal and safety equipment for the location and conditions.
- Sign out and ensure that on returning you sign back in at reception
- Security – Please keep valuables to a minimum. We can’t take responsibility for any valuables left anywhere in the centre.
- Changing rooms – To allow us to keep the changing rooms as tidy as possible could you please observe the following:-
- No personal gear to be left overnight
- Club wetsuits should be washed and handed back to a member of staff
- Place any rubbish in the bins provided
Yes – all equipment should be washed and returned to the correct place in stores for the next members to use. In the event of breakages please report to the Duty Manager.
- The last equipment hire for the lake is 1.5 hours before closing
- The last equipment hire for off-site usage is by 1.00pm
Yes, simply ring the centre to see if it’s available to use. If you do not turn up within 30mins of your requested time we may release to other members. Please remember that at certain times our courses will be using certain kit, so items may not be available at your requested time.
WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO TAKE OUT OUR DAMAGE WAIVE. If you do not have this you will be fully liable for the cost of any damage. The waiver cost s £60 per year. Please see membership terms and conditions.
If you intend to take equipment off site damage waive is a requirement.
Damage waive does not cover any loss of theft of equipment for which you will be fully liable.
We are open all year round, 7 days a week. We do have a few days off over Christmas and New Year and are closed for the odd day of staff training. We’ll notify you of any unexpected closing of the centre via email, Twitter and Facebook.
As the hire club is a non-supervised activity. You will be asked to sign a release form when you join. Please ensure that you read and full understand the information contained in the document. Please remember that:
- You must wear a buoyancy aid at all times
- An experienced adult must supervise under 16’s
- Equipment will not be hired if a member is under or thought to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- For off-site rental do not exceed the limits of your qualifications
On our members website you can post messages to arrange people to canoe and kayak with and well as check out the latest news and weather.
Throughout the year we will offer all our members free skills clinics, which we will inform you about via the usual channels. A minimum number of 3 people will be needed for the course to run.
Alternatively you can book onto any of our advertised courses, which you are entitled to receive a discounted rate.
Paying by standing order:
Your contract is for a minimum period of 1 year. Paying by standing order is a way of spreading the annual membership fee.
Notify us in writing with one months notice.
Cancel your standing order with your bank. We cannot cancel your standing order. If you leave the standing order running after you cancel your membership you will not receive a refund. In the event of an error in cancelling the standing order being made by your bank you will need to contact them.
Paying by one off payment:
Please simply contact us in writing that you do not wish to renew your membership.
