Information for group leaders
Positive Safety We recognise that safety is the primary concern of all group leaders – so please read the following information and call us if you have any queries about our safety systems. All Surf-Lines’ activity courses are inspected and approved by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (our Licence number is L8514/R1129). We only employ experienced staff, trained and qualified with the British Canoe Union, Mountain Leader Training Board and other National Governing Bodies. Our safety systems are tried and tested, and you can rest assured that your groups will be in the best possible hands on a Surf-Lines course. A copy of our Safety Policy is available via this website under the safety documents page. Group Leadership Our highly qualified coaches have extensive leadership experience with young people in the outdoors, including work as leaders with Youth Development charities, Further Education Colleges and National Outdoor Centres. Our primary requirement at Surf-Lines, however, is that they also have a passion for sharing their skills and knowledge. We encourage group leaders to make contact with our coaching staff prior to the course, to discuss your requirements – please do not hesitate to call us if you need any further information. Personal Kit For canoeing, kayaking and coasteering sessions please ensure that all students bring a swimming costume and a couple of thin layers to wear under the wetsuit – synthetic fibres are warmer than cotton when wet. They must also bring a pair of old trainers that they won’t mind getting wet – and a towel! For rock climbing and abseiling courses all students will need to bring suitable footwear – trainers are ideal. They should also wear warm, loose clothing suitable for a few active hours in the outdoors. We will supply all specialist clothing, including waterproofs when necessary. Accommodation Surf-Lines is a non-residential activity centre – we prefer to focus on what we do best! We are happy to recommend a variety of accommodation providers in North Wales – these are listed in our “Essential Information” section. We do appreciate, however, that many groups will have specific accommodation requirements and we are happy to assist you in you’re your search for a suitable place to stay. Our local knowledge can be very helpful in such cases. Also, if you prefer us to organise a “package” of activities, board and lodging, just let us know and we will provide you with the necessary details.
