Discover White Water
This 1 or 2-day course is ideal for anyone with no previous experience of white water kayaking looking for a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sport. The training content of the course includes the following:
- an introduction to white water kayaking
- flat water foundation skills
- eddy turns
- ferry gliding
- river reading
- surfing small waves
- safety and rescue
- safe paddling on rivers
- safe swimming and use of throwlines
- trip planning.
In addition to the training content, we aim to provide an enjoyable experience of the sport, offering a safe introduction to the excitement of white water kayaking.
By the end of the course you should be paddling confidently on moving water, understand safe white water kayaking and be ready to move on to the next level.
We are in an excellent location for white water kayaking in North Wales, local rivers and tidal venues in easy reach of our base. We also have an impressive fleet of white water kayaks, with a range of craft for all sizes and abilities. Our coaches are experienced and enthusiastic, and will help you maximise your progress during your time on the course.
Prior experience: you don’t need to have any prior experience of white water kayaking. There’s no need to be an experienced kayaker – minimum recent experience before the course is 3-4 days afloat on flat water. You should be able to kayak consistently in a straight line, turn and stop. You should have already experienced capsizing and exiting your kayak.
